This is an indigenous dish that pre-dates Spanish arrival on the continent which makes this dish at least 600 years old.Empanadas: This dough wrapped delight is a staple in Chile and in many places throughout South America. Chileans empanadas are generally baked and use wheat flour while other regions often use corn flour. Each empanada will have its meat along with a part of a hard-boiled egg, an olive and raisin.
